My blog was intended to report the most important issues facing our beautiful planet.
But, tonight I looked back on my posts and notice that the most important issues facing this blogger are her hopes, dreams, desires and thoughts.
Blogs are a funny thing. They are a sort of diary, but everyone has the key to unlock it. So what exactly is the purpose of a blog? To let others know what you're doing and thinking? Well, isn't that what facebook is all about? Yes. It is. So a blog is an interaction with yourself where others can voice opinions, but can not add to or detract from the topic or subject matter. Basically, an egotistical diary that lets you share what you feel should be broadcast but can't express to the people in your life because they are either too busy to listen, or simply not interested.
So what gives me the false hope that complete strangers will be interested? For one thing, I believe that when we share parts of ourselves we open up other parts of ourselves. When a stranger reads my blog I hope it encourages them to write down their inner most thoughts and feelings. Expression is healthy. Honesty is good for the soul. Reading the trials and tribulations of others is helpful. "Oh, heck, she's so screwed up, it makes me feel great about my life!"
And that brings us full circle once again. The purpose of my blog, and all the blogs out there in this great big black hole called the Internet, is to help one another see that we are all going through life making the same mistakes, loving the same fools, dreaming the same dreams, wishing on the same stars. One people, one world, one dream. To love and be loved.
I feel much better now about being an egotistical blogger. Thanks everyone!
